Coiled plate is produced through roughing, intermediate, and finishing mills. After multiple rolling passes, it achieves a smooth, wrinkle-free surface and stable dimensions. Hot-rolled coil, on the other hand, is produced through high-temperature rolling, resulting in surface wrinkles and burrs and poor dimensional stability.
2. Different Applications
Coiled plate is commonly used in the manufacture of steel structures, automotive parts, and home appliances, and can be galvanized or painted. Hot-rolled coil, on the other hand, is primarily used in the manufacture of products such as pipes and tubes that require bending and press-forming.
3. Performance Differences
Rolled steel coils are relatively thin, but exhibit excellent formability, plasticity, and weldability. Hot-rolled steel coils are thicker, but exhibit relatively higher toughness and strength.
